Lonely Castle in the Mirror is a Japanese animated film that tells the story of Kokoro, an introverted teenager who discovers a magic mirror leading to a mysterious castle. There, she meets other young people withdrawn from society, each carrying their own secrets and pain. Together, they explore this fairytale world, discovering that they have until the end of the year to find a special key and make their most heartfelt wish come true. This film, shown for the first time in Switzerland, tackles themes of friendship, self-acceptance and the courage to face one’s fears.

Shabon Dama (Where I belong) is a movie directed by Shinji Higashi, based on the novel Shabon Dama (The Soap Bubble) by Nonami Asa. The movie follows the story of Izumi, abandoned by his parents, which resorted to commit burglary, targeting women and the elderly. While being on the run after a failed robbery nearly killed him, he arrives in the mountains of Miyazaki Prefecture where he helps an injured elderly woman, Suma. Izumi then stays at Suma’s home, and the people in the village consider Izumi as Suma’s grandson, taking good care of him. A change takes place in Izumi.

Suzume is an animated film directed by the famous Makoto Shinkai. The story follows Suzume, a young girl who one day discovers a mysterious door in the mountains.
